Training
Overhead Cranes, the workhorses of the industry, attract little interest until they become inoperable or have a failure. Our training program at Baker Crane is specifically designed to upgrade the existing knowledge and skill levels of experienced operators, trainees, safety personnel, inspectors, maintenance personnel, managers and supervisors.
The information in this program provided in the classroom is reinforced with hands-on application sessions on overhead cranes. All personnel attending this program will gain significant and useful skills and will leave with a stronger understanding and appreciation of the requirements and responsibilities of Overhead Crane Operators.

We consider the fact that installing a wire rope hoist in a case where a chain hoist is better suited, the hoist could be more expensive to the customer and the hoist could be more cumbersome for the operator to use. At the same time we also consider that if a chain hoist is installed where a wire rope hoist is better suited the effects could be that the maintenance on the hoist would be more costly and the units’ life expectancy would be reduced.

Baker Crane has a large number of parts distributors throughout the United States. This allows us to find the most fastest and economical way to get you the parts you need. We offer both OEM and OEM compatible parts on all makes of hoist and bridge cranes. If the manufacture no longer is able to provide parts for the unit we can reverse engineer or retrofit the part. Baker Cranes has the knowledge and the capabilities to fix the issue and is waiting to help.​
Services we Provide
Inspections

Our crane condition inspection is designed to help keep your crane compliant with local regulations, and to identify issues that may affect your safety and productivity. The inspection provides information for planning predictive maintenance actions designed to improve the reliability and safety of your cranes.
To insure the safety of your employees, minimum down-time, and secure the peace of mind that all functions are in full operating order an inspection program is a necessity for your business. We will customize an inspection program to your requirements to keep your equipment compliant with federal laws. Our inspections are performed by factory trained service technicians.
Testing
​
Load testing and inspection of overhead cranes is required by many safety regulations, national consensus standards and manufacturers.
It is the purpose of the annual condition inspection to ensure that the overall structural, mechanical and electric components of the equipment have been maintained in a safe and serviceable condition and are functioning properly according to the original equipment manufacturer’s specifications.
It is the purpose of the load test to ensure by actual overloading that the equipment is capable of safely lifting and moving the rated load through all designed motions. The inspection and load test do not take into account the duty factor of the equipment.
The frequency of performing a load test can vary depending on regulatory jurisdiction. The CCAA (Crane Certification Association of America) recommends that load testing be performed at least once every four (4) years. Please keep in mind that the original equipment manufacturer may have more stringent requirements and these requirements must take precedence. A certification issued is not a license to use a crane beyond the original designed duty factor. Owners and operators should always be aware of the equipment’s duty factor.
